- My copies have gone feint. Shall I replace the toner?
- What does 'CH' in the display mean?
- My copier is not working and showing a fault code 'H5-xx', or 'E7-xx' what can I do?
- My toner light is on when should I replace it?
- I have black lines on my copies what can I do?
No. It is almost never this that causes any copy quality issues. On modern printer/copiers the copies don't run lighter as the toner gets lower. Very similar to a car that runs slower as the gauge gets lower. When it runs out it stops! Normally feint or poor copy quality means that the machine needs a clean up or adjustment. This should only be carried out by qualified technicians. Contact us or use the adjacent support form to book a service call.
'CH' is short for check. It is because one or more of the panels/doors is not closed on the copier. Close all the doors again and the code should go. Some doors and flaps are hidden away under side feeds etc. Use logic and think about what panels were last open to clear a jam for instance and this should get you to the right area. If you need further assistance please contact us book a service call.
All fault codes seem to be in cryptic format! What the fault code means and how to fix it is almost impossible to answer without writing a book. The best thing to do is check that all paper jams have been cleared from the machine. When this is done if the code doesn't clear turn the machine off for 10-15 secs. This gives the memory time to clear. When the machine reboots it will either come to ready, or come back up with the same code.
At this time it's best to log a call with us. This can be done via the adjacent support form or by calling 01427 617975. If you can have your machine model and the exact fault code ready for us that will save time. Sometimes we can help you clear the code by talking you through it.
On all of today's copier/printers they have toner low and warning lights. These are set to come on early to enable you to check if you have spares available. Sometimes a copier/printer can run for weeks with the lights on. Please don't replace the toner until it completely stops or until it tells you to replace the toner. At this point it's a good idea to check you have spares and order some by calling/ emailing if you don't. It's always best to carry spares in stock as you can guarantee that toner will run out at your busiest time. All our toner deliveries are 2-3 days from time of order.
Most of the newer machines have toner gauges. Yours may have. If in doubt give us a call and when can tell you if and how to find it. This is especially useful on colour machines with 4 different toners.
Ok. This is quite common. First thing to do is see if it produces black lines when printing or copying from the glass (not the document feeder.) If the copies are fine when printing or on the glass but lines across the page when using the document feeder it means there is dirt, tipex or something on the slip glass. The slip glass is the thin piece of glass on one side of the big glass area when you lift the lid. Check where in relation the line is to the slip glass and clean with finger nail or dry cloth.
If the lines don't clear or its not the slip glass you will need to make a service call by using the form above or calling us.
